CT Scans
Computed Tomography, also known as CT or CAT (computerized axial tomography) scans, are available at Big South Fork Medical Center for inpatient and outpatients. We have the only 64-Slice CT scanner in the area – providing outstanding image clarity and reducing scan times to several seconds. The system’s wide-bore design and fast scan times help to increase patient comfort.
X-Ray
Our X Ray services are available for inpatients and outpatient appointments. At Big South Fork Medical Center, we provide high quality digital images.
ULTRASOUND
Ultrasounds are available for inpatients and outpatient appointments at Big South Fork Medical Center. Ultrasounds are a safe imaging technique often used to view the movement and structure of internal organs or blood vessels in real time. Ultrasound images are captured using high-frequency sound waves, not radiation. It is a commonly used safe imaging method since it doesn’t expose the body to radiation.
Screening Mammograms
A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast. A screening mammogram uses special x-ray technology designed for breasts to detect abnormal growths or changes in breast tissue.
At Big South Fork Medical Center, we are pleased to offer screening mammograms for our patients. For many women, mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms.
BONE DENSITY TESTING
A bone density test is a measurement of how much mineral, such as calcium, you have in your bones. Bone Density testing is often used to diagnose osteoporosis before you break a bone, help to estimate your chances of breaking a bone in the future, and monitor the effectiveness of osteoporosis treatments.
At Big South Fork Medical Center we perform hip, spine, forearm, and full-body densitometry as medically indicated. We offer an appointment schedule that allows patients to schedule both their mammogram and bone density study on the same visit.
